Disabled Access
Heligan continually works to ensure that all visitors, no matter what their ability, can gain the most from their visit and have the best possible access to our facilities and services. For a full list of adaptations made to facilities and services please see our downloadable Heligan Access Guide for details.

Car Park
Disabled Parking bays occupy 10% of our total parking area; situated nearest to the entrance, these bays are on flat ground and have a tarmac surface. Badge holders should please identify yourselves to our Car Park staff on arrival. The parking bays start at approximately 50m from the entrance facilities.
Facilities
We have ample toilet facilities on arrival, including left and right hand transfer disabled toilets for wheelchair users, as well as baby changing facilities. Further facilities are available inside the gardens at the Steward’s House, including disabled.
Our Heligan Shop, Plant Sales and Tearooms all cater for visitors with disabilities.
Armchair Tour
Throughout garden opening hours an exploratory film of the gardens is displayed in our Conservatory outside Plant Sales, taking visitors on a journey through the more inaccessible parts of the garden. The film also features informative commentary given by Heligan staff.
Wheelchairs
Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow from our Visitor Reception on a first-come first-served basis. There is no charge for this but please do ask for advice from a staff member before going off to explore the gardens. People are welcome to bring their own motorised wheelchairs or scooters but please be advised that this is at your own risk.
Resources
Information about Heligan is available in advance of your visit or on arrival in various formats (large print, audio and some items in Braille). Please contact our Visitor Reception on 01726 845100 to request these.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs on harness are welcome throughout the year.
Staff Training
We are committed to giving first class customer service. Please feel free to approach staff members if you need assistance in any way during your visit and we will do our best to help.
Access within the gardens
The Heligan Access Guide will give you detailed information about the gardens, including path surfaces, gradients and rest places.
Most of the 13-acre Northern Gardens is accessible and there is full access to Horsemoor Hide (the indoor heart of our Wildlife Project), and the Steward’s House. The Northern Gardens lies on a gentle downhill gradient, so please remember this when you want to make your way back to the exit.
The Jungle and Wider Estate are unfortunately not easily accessible to everyone. The gradients of the pathways to these areas are very steep. For this reason we ask wheelchair users to refrain from entering these areas.
We have free maps and Wheelchair Access maps, which will help you to get an idea of the site and its size. The maps are included in the downloadable Access Guide to assist in planning your visit before arrival.
